2.4 GHz Wireless Camera

The concept behind a 2.4 GHz wireless camera is highly well noted; however, when it comes down to reality, there are a few factors that can make them problematic. This frequency (2.4 GHz) is a highly used frequency amongst a wide range of other technologies, which can at time cause significant interference with other products in the area. A great example of this is wireless networking, which uses the same frequency, therefore, it is not unheard of for a wireless network to suffer from interference where there is a wireless camera coexisting in the same environment. In addition, a wireless camera can also suffer the same interference as the wireless network.

You may be able to find some space in the 2.4 frequency range to operate without interference, if you only require the use of a single wireless camera. Unfortunately, if you require the use of several wireless cameras in the same area, there is a greater chance for interference. It is not unusual for this to happen when you are using multiple wireless cameras in the same vicinity.

However, there are certain situations in which the use of a wireless camera can be very useful when the case presents itself that there is a possible way to put a cable in between the camera and where you would like to monitor or record the footage that is incoming. For example, if there is a street between two buildings, in which the only way to get video signals from one building to the other without the use of a wireless camera, you would have to dig a trench from one building to the other. Going this route would be highly expensive and would require permission from the state, city, or some form of council.

Having a 2.4 ghz wireless camera is great for situations that require stealth. Because of the lack of wires, it is easier to get what you need done without wires getting in the way and giving away the position of the camera. Today’s wireless cameras are a lot smaller now than in the past. In fact, some of them are no bigger than a matchbox, and that is including the camera and the power supply. Additionally, you can find some wireless cameras hidden in everyday items such as tissue boxes, alarm clocks, and pens just to name a few. As a result, you can set these cameras up on the fly; therefore, if you’re involved in an installation where you must get it done quickly, the camera can be put in position in no time flat. This type of quick deployment is known as rapid CCTV.
